Biography

Maya Clarady is not your normal kiddo. Performing for audiences since the young age of three, she has developed a natural and comfortable presence, a strong sense of self and a great appreciation for the arts. She loves to interpret and integrate music, movement and dialogue to emotionally connect and share a message with her audience.

As you might expect, she has a wisdom far beyond her years yet knows the value of just being a kid while she can. Independent, strong and self assured, she would rather discuss the great respect she has for her mother and all she has accomplished as a single parent raising a kid with so many passions. Maya is a highly talented actor, singer and dancer as well as a skilled martial artist.

Maya is a leader, often guiding her friends. She believes in being an uplifting person and a good example to others. They call this her "Shakespeare moments." Her rules, stand up to bullying, give comfort when needed and remember that material things aren't important. She believes in forgiveness and positivity, something she learned after her father struggled with addiction. Amazingly, she cites two positive traits she discovered while going through the divorce that came soon after. Her independence and compassion for others. "Showing compassion and care can actually help shape and guide others to be better themselves."

Recently cast as the lead in a sci-fi television series, she shares the excitement she has in discovering her character and portraying the message to the audience. Her goal, to connect and resonate with them. Her techniques in preparing for a role are quite serious and extensive, approaching the task as a true performer, developing her character with a great deal of thought, intensive research and some final personal touches.

Of course, Maya's ultimate dream role would be Doctor Who's Companion. After all, everyone wants to live in the Tardis right? As one of the show's biggest fans, you will often find Maya decked head to toe in the Doctor's swag. After meeting Maya, I wouldn't be surprised if she actually fulfilled this dream. Her confidence and maturity, appreciation and compassion make her a pleasure to be with. Her determination and talent, the hard work she invests, there is no doubt she will one day confront those creepy Weeping Angels!

Maya was once a competitive gymnast but quit gymnastics to focus on dance and acting. She started dancing at 3 years old.

Maya earned her green belt in karate in 2011 and only lost one competitive match, despite competing in both her age group and the next level up.

Maya was the youngest volunteer for World Fest Houston independent film festival when she first started at 10 years old.

For her first shoot on "Parallel: Dimension Under Siege," Maya was wearing a giant splint and hobbling around on crutches due to a fractured foot. She spent the time between shots keeping her foot up and studying her script.

Maya won her first filmmaking award for her short "Dead Queen" from the same festival that honored a not-quite-as-young new filmmaker named Steven Spielberg. She received the honor at the ripe age of 17.
