Biography

Constance D. Benson

Mini bio

  • American actress Constance D. Benson was born in Savannah, Ga. She began embarking on her professional acting career just nine months after she received a Bone Marrow Transplant that cured her from Sickle Cell Anemia (Sickle Cell Disease). Before she became a professional actress, she was a professional runway model and had already been in Seventeen Prom Magazine, Teen Prom Magazine, Cosmo Girl Prom Magazine and other various print magazines and ads. She was signed with Wilhelmina in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania in 2010 and she has walked in countless runway shows and worked with countless designers, some of which have been featured on such popular reality television shows as Project Runway, Real Housewives of Atlanta, Sorority Sisters, and so on. Around the time when her professional modeling career began to take off, she began to get sick due to her disease. She tried to work past her disease, but her body simply could not take it. In 2011, she left her modeling contract in Pennsylvania and came home to fight for her life. On October 30, 2012, Constance Benson became the very first person in the world to be cured of Sickle Cell Anemia (Sickle Cell Disease) via the Stride-HCT Bone Marrow Transplant study. She frequently speaks at events advocating for Bone Marrow Transplants and promoting Sickle Cell Anemia (Sickle Cell Disease).
