His passion for music led him to study tango guitar, jazz, and Mexican folk music, and in 2006 he co-founded the artistic collective El Terror del Silencio with actress, singer, and writer Kirsti Eline Torhaug, exploring storytelling through theatre, music, and early short film experiments.
Between 2015 and 2016, he studied Film Directing at Kulturama in Stockholm, where he directed Rebecka, Portrait of a Mother. The short film screened at several international festivals, receiving multiple awards. From 2021 to 2024, he pursued further film studies at the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires, directing a number of short films. In 2024 he was selected by the Academy for International Communication of Chinese Culture to participate in the Looking China program, directing the documentary Sewing Confidence in Dalian, which received the Second Prize of the Golden Lens Award 2024. As part of this recognition, he was invited to participate in the Looking China 2025 program in Chongqing, where he directed the short film Meld Inside and Out.
In 2025 and 2026, Cafaro will continue his professional training by studying a Master's degree in Cinematographic Photography at The Core School in Madrid, Spain.
As a filmmaker, Cafaro seeks originality and frequently explores existential, psychological, and surreal themes, often revolving around solitude and the human condition.
