Funmi was born in Kent and grew up in Portsmouth. Prior to training at Birmingham city University, Funmi worked as a director for young adults with challenging behavioural needs in the USA. She studied the Lee Strasberg technique under David Bennet and undertook training at Identity school of acting. She has been on tour with Roar material, Platypus theatre company, Tiata Fahodiz and Collective artists. At the tram theatre of Edinburgh, Funmi also worked with one of the key African writers, Smith Likongwe, in 'Come Freedom, Come'. She played a leading role in Femi Osofisan's retelling of the Euripides classic 'The Women of Troy' and Tiata Fahodiz's Makinde.

Commercials: Tea time, Visit Britain, Girls night out, Out of Site, Inonan, Dove, Mecca Bingo The Guardian Radio: Has worked in BBC Radio Drama and voice overs.
