Biography

Mario Nieves Acevedo is a dedicated Mexican Cinematographer from Zacatecas - Mexico, specializing in under-represented stories and themes. His career spans 13 years and has been nominated and won many prestigious awards, chiefly the Best Cinematography award from the Zot Fest Film Festival in 2019. Mario enjoys collaborating with other strong creatives and combining the technical with the magic of filmmaking to produce creative solutions. His work includes partnerships with AstroAI, Intuit, WongFu, HiCozy, The Dice Decides, Task Master LA and more.

During his time attending UC IRVINE, he applied all his time and efforts to train himself to be an industry working professional. Starting out green and living in his car for the first year, Mario quickly became known at UCI and has photographed 25 narrative and experimental short films, lensed 4 documentaries and has traveled all over the US and Mexico. Mario is an award winning cinematographer with a healthy work ethic, problem solving skills and a genuine love for cinema.

When Mario is not on set, he is a parkour athlete, mechanic, and loves to travel.
