Robert Richard is an award-winning actor, producer, and theatre educator from Baytown, Texas. With more than two decades of experience on stage and screen, he has established himself as a versatile performer known for bringing authenticity, emotional depth, and compelling storytelling to every role.
Robert discovered his passion for acting at the age of 16 after enrolling in theatre at Robert E. Lee High School. What began as an elective quickly became a lifelong calling. During high school, he earned honors including Best Supporting Actor and the prestigious Most Outstanding Thespian Award, an honor that had not been presented in several years.
After graduation, Robert attended Lee College, where he continued developing his craft through productions such as Hamlet and Romeo & Juliet. During this time, he competed at the International Model and Talent Association (IMTA), earning first-place finishes in Monologue, Television Real People, Sitcom, and Entertainment Host, along with a second-place finish in Cold Read. His performances culminated in receiving IMTA's highest acting distinction, the prestigious Young Adult Actor of the Year Award.
Robert later continued his theatrical training at Sam Houston State University while expanding his professional career in both theatre and film. His screen credits include VID Chronicles, Eight Notes to Heaven, Roach, and I Need Mine, showcasing his ability to perform across a variety of dramatic genres.
On stage, Robert has earned widespread recognition throughout the Houston theatre community. He received the BroadwayWorld Houston Award for Best Performer in a Play for his portrayal of Zach in Black Boys Cry with 1989 Dreams Productions. His portrayal of Troy Maxson in August Wilson's Fences earned him a BroadwayWorld Houston nomination for Best Performer in a Play, while Baytown Little Theater honored him with its Best Leading Performer in a Play award for the same performance. He also received a second BroadwayWorld Houston Best Performer in a Play nomination for his portrayal of Junebug in Mamma's Breath during the Fade to Black Arts Festival. The production received the People's Choice Award and was later selected as one of the "Best of the Best" productions celebrating the festival's first twelve years.
Most recently, Robert made his Houston Grand Opera debut as a member of the ensemble in Silent Night, one of the company's acclaimed main stage productions. He also continues touring nationally with the award-winning production Black Boys Cry, performing for audiences across the United States and Canada while using theatre to spark meaningful conversations through powerful storytelling.
Beyond his performing career, Robert serves as a Fine Arts Department Chair and Head Theatre Director at a middle school, where he mentors young performers and has built a highly successful theatre program recognized for competitive excellence and student achievement. He is also the founder of Robert Richard Productions, where he develops original films, theatrical productions, and creative media.
