Biography

  • Daniel Elijah Bonchul Klimek is a wide ranged actor with an ethnically ambiguous look. He is of South Korean and German decent. Known for his presence, handsome face, and soft charm, he has worked in theater, film, and TV in South Korea and U.S..

He was born in a U.S. military hospital at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He is the son of a South Korean mother, Chesun Kim, an import export trade company owner, and a German-American father, Douglas Keith Klimek, an officer in the U.S. Air Force. He is the oldest of three brothers. A younger middle brother, David Uriah Eonjey Klimek, and youngest brother, Isaiah Jeremiah Sejong Klimek. As a child of a military father, he often moved around a lot in his youth. Soon after being born, Daniel moved to Tokyo, Japan. And after some time, moved to Seoul, South Korea and then the U.S. territory, Guam. Having grown up in a very "strict Korean" household he is able to speak Korean fluently which he has said often surprises Koreans. Because of this he is known to go by his Korean name "Bonchul" along with his mother's surname "Kim".

Though starting his career in NYC, he made his first feature film break as a supporting role in a Korean independent feature "Mongolian Princess" as the character Alex. He then went to star as Mr. Thomas in the Kdrama "The Chairman of Class 9" and has also acted in films that premiered at prestigious festivals like TIFF such as "Don't F*ck with Bah" and "APE". He is also known for appearing with Arden Cho in her music video "Try".
