Luke Zammit is a filmmaker from Malta. He fell in love with filmmaking from a young age-first as an avid moviegoer, and later as a hobbyist filmmaker at the age of 13. He earned his Master of Fine Arts degree in Film Production from Full Sail University, where he was named Valedictorian of his graduating class. This follows another degree from the University of Malta in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence and a masters degree in Telecommunications.
Among his most notable achievements is writing and directing Magic Mouse, his thesis film. He led a cast and crew of over 70 people on the project. The short film was nominated for a Student Emmy (2017) in the Best Comedy category and won several awards, including a Bronze Telly Award and a Golden Knight Award. It was also named Best "Long Form" and Best "Graphics" at the Suncoast Student Production Awards, in addition to earning thirteen other prestigious film festival selections and eight wins. Magic Mouse also led to Luke being nominated in four categories for the "Artist of the Year" award in his home country of Malta.
Other notable achievements include writing and directing the Smart Supermarket Christmas advert, which received critical praise from The Huffington Post. He also worked as Production and Post Manager on the short film Meet Caravaggio for St John’s Co-Cathedral, which is screened in a cinema inside the museum alongside the artist’s legendary paintings. Additionally, he served as Post Production Supervisor on Battle of the Beast, a UK five-episode television competition game show from Camelot Pictures.
Luke has spent his professional career at Stargate Studios in Malta, starting in the company’s renowned VFX team before moving into the production department, where he produced television commercials and short films.
Today, Luke is the Manager of Post Production Services, overseeing the company’s Digital Lab, Editorial, Sound, and Colour departments. In this role, he enables filmmakers to access a comprehensive, one-stop post-production solution in Malta, while taking full advantage of the country’s highly attractive 40% incentives.
