Iona "Io" Leighton grew up in Sacramento, California. Began acting when they were 16 years old at the Visual and Performing Arts Center at Sacramento High School. Earned a BFA from the Acting Conservatory at the State University of New York (SUNY) Purchase. Also earned a Master's degree in Special Education.
