Biography

Rohan Shankar is an Indian screenwriter known for blending humor with emotionally resonant storytelling in mainstream Hindi cinema.

A physics graduate from Kalyan, he began his creative journey aspiring to be a radio jockey before exploring various departments of filmmaking-including direction, production, and editing-eventually finding his voice as a writer.

He made his debut with the Marathi film Lalbaugchi Rani (2016) and went on to write popular Hindi films such as Luka Chuppi (2019), Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari (2020), Helmet (2021), and the National Award-winning Mimi (2021). He is the dialogue writer of much loved film Saiyaara (2025) also. His writing often explores relatable human relationships, layered with humor and social insight.

Rohan has collaborated with some of the leading filmmakers in the industry and continues to develop stories across genres, ranging from romantic dramas and comedies to thrillers and high-concept narratives. His upcoming projects include Bhooth Bangla and Haiwaan, both directed by Priyadarshan, along with other projects in development with major studios.
