- I think we need to redefine the role of Entertainment. Entertainment can play a superficial role. When I was in law school, I used it to escape from complex legal theory, so I watched minimally complex films with lots of enchanting special effects. Today, I use Entertainment more as a healing device, when I connect with characters, stories, and voices that help me process or articulate my complex emotions and circumstances. When I was a teenager, arguably the first most challenging time of life with the least emotional intelligence to handle it, I saw Entertainment as a way of helping me shape who I was, and found a collective identity in the content I consumed. In a world where traumatic experience now seems the norm, we need Entertainment more than ever, to connect, to heal, and most of all, to find the love and compassion for each other.
