Laurence Thompson is an author, essayist and performance poet from Liverpool, England.

His short story, Telemetry at the End of the World, was published in 2012 by Paraphilia Magazine alongside work from Alan Moore, Norman Spinrad, Lydia Lunch, Genesis P-Orridge and Stewart Home.

Thompson began writing music and arts journalism for Liverpool's acclaimed Bido Lito and Getintothis magazines in 2014, and is the acting film and TV editor for Getintothis as of 2016.

His literary essay In Search of Ismail Kadare was accepted by the online journal Minor Literature(s) in 2015.

Thompson is an active performance poet on the Liverpool and Manchester circuits. In 2016, his poem Tenebrae was printed in Living Wirral magazine.

His first film writing credit was received in 2017 for Saddenly Now, for which he collaborated with the playwrights Pelagie-May Green and Luke Francis.

In late 2017, he gave a well-received talk on the 20th century French avant garde writer Georges Bataille at the Transgressive Cultures Conference in Paris.
