Nihan Yesil is an award-winning composer, sound designer, performer, and multi-media artist. Their music have been performed in various venues, festivals, and artist residencies across the U.S. and Europe.
Based in the U.S., Nihan composes both acoustic and electroacoustic concert music, as well as working for film and theatre.
Born in Turkey, Nihan started studying classical music with their father M. Emin Yesil, at an early age. They received Bachelor's of Music from Istanbul Bilgi University in Jazz Composition. Nihan made their debut in the United States at the Henry Mancini Institute in Los Angeles where they were invited as an ASCAP scholar and received ASCAP Young Composer Award.
Nihan's diverse background and expertise in wide range of musical genres and her interest in working with visual media lead her to writing music and designing sound for stage and film. After M.M. in Composition (UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance), Nihan received their M.F.A. in Sound Design (UMKC Theatre).
