Sohel Chowdhury was shot dead below Trumps Club at Abedin Tower in Banani on 18 December, 1998.
His marriage with Diti ended in divorce shortly before his death. They have two children together, a daughter named Lamia Chowdhury (b.1987) and a son named Shafayet Chowdhury Dipto (b.1989).
