Maissa Houri

Maissa Houri (she/her) is a Lebanese Syrian Canadian award-winning filmmaker and ACTRA/UDA actor based in Ottawa. Her work lives at the intersection of identity, community, and the kind of chaos you laugh about later. For five years, Maissa served as Digi60’s Director of Equity Initiatives, championing emerging and underrepresented filmmakers and helping shift the festival’s approach to access and inclusion. She is the Director and a Producer on "A League of her Own", a new four-part doc series for Bell Fibe TV1 Ottawa. A Netflix-Banff Diversity of Voices alum and ACTRA Ottawa’s 2024 Woman of the Year, Maissa is equally proud of her growing body of work, her smutty romance novels, and her two daughters - both fully convinced she’s famous. She’s choosing not to ruin that for them.
