Biography

  • Charlotte Kennett (Char) is a queer, neurodivergent writer and director with more ideas than her Google Drive can keep up with. Char has a penchant for curious, character driven dark comedies. With a deep love for world building and nostalgic franchises, Char's creative is intrinsically high concept, boundary pushing, and original. Her voice is queer, bold, emotional, intentional, and on the pulse of today. Char got her start in Chicago's comedy scene, cutting her teeth by shooting and producing sketches for iOCN (iO Comedy Network), assistant directing revues (Soap Box Derby King, Annoyance Theater), and helming 2 seasons and 22 episodes of Chapstick, a viral LGBTQ+ comedy web series that she co-created and went on to be watched by over half a million people and receive buzzy press from publications like VICE and WGN Radio. Since being in LA, Char has secured all of her own jobs and projects, from creating award-winning short films and pilots to ideating and directing music videos for labels like Sony and Columbia Records. Char was hired as a showrunner for a queer space series in partnership with Twitch x NASA. Her debut short, Psycho Baby, screened at Canadian and Oscar Award Qualifying festivals and now lives on Youtube where it has amassed over 700k views. Most recently Char served as the writer's assistant then director's assistant to T-Street's latest breakout director, Chloe Domont (Fair Play) on her next film A Place In Hell starring Michelle Williams and Daisy Edgar Jones. Currently, Char is a Season 3 Tribe Writing Fellow at Superspecial created by Amy Aniobi (Insecure, Silicon Valley, Survival of the Thickest). On weekends, Char is busy restoring a 1990 Isuzu Trooper, exploring nearby National Parks, and developing her own TV show ideas and feature films.
