Biography

Shonnie Jackson is from Miami, Florida and earned her Master's of Fine Arts from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. While at USC she directed a plethora of projects including (but not limited to) "Serenity" (2016); "Wilted Roses" (2016); the pilot episode of the Austin Film Festival 2017 Official Selection "Sigh - The Web Series" (2017) and lastly, the multi-cam sitcom "Baking Bad" ( 2017, previously known as "Bunny's Bakery).

Shonnie is mainly known for being the co-creator, director and producer of "The Put Down" web series which is about the urban millennial dating scene in Miami, FL. "The Put Down" has aggregated over 100K views on YouTube, been screened at several festivals and has won "Best New Media" at the Houston Black Film Festival 2017 and "Best Director, Web Series" at the Hollywood, Florida Film Festival 2017. With "The Put Down" being the first thing she ever released for public consumption, Shonnie was immensely proud of its reception. Shonnie also is very proud to have Executive Produced the 2018 American Black Film Festival's officially selected narrative feature, "The Flea", which revolves around a day in the life of a flea market manager in Miami's very own USA Flea Market.

Lastly, Shonnie's USC Feature-Screenplay Thesis, "The Twenty-Third of Loneliness" was awarded "Honorable Mention" at the Fresh Voices Screenplay Competition 2018-19; was one of four Finalists in the Pan African Film Festival Screenplay Competition 2019; a Finalist at the Miami Web Fest 2019; a Finalist at the Davinci International Film Festival Storyline Screenplay Competition 2019; and a Semi-Finalist at the Page Turner Screenplay Competition 2018.
