Biography

Born and raised in Thousand Oaks, California, Derek Thomas May began training as an actor in 2008, quickly becoming obsessed with the craft and the discipline behind it. By 21, he was already working on television sets as a background actor and production assistant, learning the industry from the inside out and committing to building a career the long way-through experience, consistency, and presence.

Alongside acting, Derek’s life has always been grounded in combat sports. A competitive kickboxer and mixed martial artist, he naturally gravitated toward stunt work, where physical storytelling, control, and intensity matter as much as performance. Stunts became an extension of his acting-not a separate lane-allowing him to merge character with real-world physicality.

Influenced by actors like Christian Bale and Tom Hardy, and shaped by the larger-than-life energy of action icons such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Derek aims to bring that same commitment, grit, and screen presence-while forging a style distinctly his own.
