  • Born on 3 September 1979 in Trondheim, Norway, Stian Eckhoff is a former biathlete. He is an older brother of Tiril Eckhoff, who is also a biathlete and Kaja Eckhoff. His first year in biathlon was 1990 and on 11 February 2000 made his World Cup debut. Eckhoff has 2 individual victories, both in the 10 km sprint in Östersund in 2004 and the following 2005. He also has 7 individual podiums. Participated in 3 World Championships with winning only one gold medal in the relay in Hochfilzen in 2005. He took part in only one Winter Olympics - in 2006 in Turin where placed 16th in the Individual, 16th in the sprint, 21st in pursuit and 5th in the relay. However Stian Eckhoff has finished 11th times in the Top 10 in his career. Placed 3rd in the pursuit in Hochfilzen during the 2003-2004 season, 3rd in the mass start in Pokljuka during the 2004-2005 season, 3rd in the pursuit in Khanty-Mansyisk during the 2006-2007 season. Also finished 4th in the sprint in Pokljuka, 4th in the pursuit in Östersund and in the mass start in Khanty-Mansyisk during the 2004-2005 season, which was most successful in his career because concluded at 10th place in the overall. Positioned 5th twice in the sprint in Hochfilzen in 2003-2004 season and in the pursuit in Ruhpolding in 2005-2006 season. Since his retirement after the 2007-2008 season, Stian Eckhoff has become involved in coaching the Norwegian national team. He was appointed head coach of the women's team since the 2014-2015 season.
