- Son of Academy Award and Grammy Award winning songwriter Robert B. Sherman and Joyce Sherman, nephew of Richard M. Sherman, grandson of Tin Pan Alley songwriter Al Sherman and great-grandson of Samuel Sherman (who was Court Composer, Conductor and Concert Master to the Court of Emperor Franz Josef I of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Robert J. Sherman is at least the fourth generation of songwriters in the Sherman family line.
