Biography

William Kojo Agbeti is a Ghanaian cinematographer, director, and producer renowned for his contributions to the Ghanaian film industry. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with honors in Theatre Arts from the University of Ghana in 2013, specializing in Radio, Television, Film, and Video.

Agbeti's career commenced with the 2013 short film Komabu-Za, which explored the Ewe migration and won Best Documentary at the 3rd Francophone Film Festival in 2015. In 2019, he released Nirvana, a short film about a 12-year-old boy aspiring to win a scholarship against his father's wishes; this film was featured at the Black Star International Film Festival.

As a cinematographer and editor, Agbeti worked on the feature film Azali, which was selected as Ghana's submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2020 Oscars. In 2024, he released the series The Queen of Akra, a biopic of Naa Dode Akabi, featuring actors such as Adjetey Anang and Melissa Nortey.

Throughout his career, Agbeti has received several accolades, including the Best Cinematography award at the 2018 Ghana Movie Awards and the Golden Movie Awards for his work on Azali. He also won Best Short Movie at the 9th Edition of the Ghana Movie Awards in 2019.

Beyond filmmaking, Agbeti is active on social media, sharing insights into his work and promoting authentic Ghanaian stories through initiatives like Den of History.
