Biography

James Howells is a writer, producer, and filmmaker based in Vancouver, Canada. He holds a Master's in Film from the University of Southampton and began his career in the BBC Vision Intake program in London. After moving to Canada in 2011, he built more than a decade of on-set experience as an actor's, director's, and producer's assistant on projects for WB, HBO, Netflix, Disney and Amazon. James wrote and produced the award-winning indie feature For God's Sake Wake Her Up (2024), which secured distribution following its festival run. His screenwriting accolades include winning "Best 60-Minute Episodic" at the Nantucket Film Festival, placing Top 3 in Final Draft's Big Break, and cracking the Top 20 in the 2024 Pacific Screenwriting Program. Ranked in Coverfly's Top 1% of writers, James is represented by Brant Toochis Agency in Los Angeles.
