Biography

Howard Karp is an accomplished sound designer and re-recording mixer with a diverse career spanning over three decades in the entertainment industry. After serving four years as a communications specialist in the military, Howard began his career in music recording studios, working as a tracking engineer, mixer, and producer. His work was featured in numerous network TV shows and major studio films.

In addition to his studio work, Howard spent four years teaching at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, where he contributed to the development of the Recording Institute of Technology's (RIT) curriculum.

Howard's career transitioned into film and television, where he worked on sound restoration for legacy content at Technicolor, collaborating with major studios on over 200 titles. He also worked on re-versioning and mastering TV shows and feature films, including the creation of bonus materials for DVD and Blu-ray releases.

After landing on staff at Paramount Pictures, Howard expanded his scope to work on original studio content, as well as independent films, documentaries, and pilots.

Additionally, Howard has served as a director on the board of the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE), where he continued to contribute to the advancement of sound and audio post-production in the industry.
