Lucian Leape was born on 7 November 1930 in Bellevue, Pennsylvania, USA. He was married to Martha Kinne Palmer. He died on 30 June 2025 in Lexington, Massachusetts, USA.
Prior to joining the faculty at Harvard in 1988, he was professor of Surgery and Chief of Pediatric Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine and the New England Medical Center.
