Akanksha Seda(I)

Akanksha Seda is a National Award-winning director, writer, editor, voice artist, and creative director based in Mumbai. The daughter of an Air Force Officer, she majored in English at Lady Sri Ram College for Women and later graduated in Film and Television from the Xavier Institute of Communication. In a career spanning 15 years, she has excelled across diverse formats and genres of storytelling. Akanksha began directing mainstream national TV commercials around 2017, working with prominent brands such as Disney Hotstar, McDonald's, Bumble, Google, Fastrack, Phone Pe, and Instagram. Her work for Dove, titled Chubby Cheeks, which she wrote and directed, earned her a Cannes Lion for Best Branded Content in 2017. Her short films Khaane Mein Kya Hai? and Chhoti garnered over 15 million views on YouTube. In 2019, Akanksha won a National Award for the film Amoli, India’s first investigative short documentary about child sex trafficking. It was voiced in Hindi by Rajkummar Rao, in English by Vidya Balan, and in Tamil by Kamal Haasan. In 2022, she won her first Cannes Lion Grand Prix for her film The Missing Chapter, made for Whisper, P&G. This film also won her accolades at the One Show, Clio, Spikes, Effies, Epica, Abbies, Kyoorious, and London International Awards. She co-created Dabba Cartel, produced by Excel Entertainment, for Netflix which was released to widespread critical and audience acclaim. Most recently, she co-wrote Ma Ka Sum, a romantic series for Amazon Prime Video starring Mona Singh. Akanksha’s impressive body of work and her commitment to impactful storytelling continue to make her a standout talent in the industry.
