Biography

Jharrel Jerome is an American actor. He was born in the Bronx, New York, and attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where he studied acting.

Jerome made his feature film debut in Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight (2016), playing the teenage version of Kevin in the Academy Award-winning film. He later gained international recognition for portraying Korey Wise in Ava DuVernay’s Netflix miniseries When They See Us (2019). His performance earned him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, making him the first Afro-Latino performer to win the award in that category.

Following his breakthrough, Jerome appeared in a variety of film and television projects, including Concrete Cowboy (2020), Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), in which he voiced Miles G. Morales (Earth-42), I’m a Virgo (2023), and Unstoppable (2024). In addition to acting, he has released music under his own name.

Known for his naturalistic performances and thoughtful approach to his work, Jerome has established himself as one of the leading young actors of his generation, with a career spanning independent films, studio productions, television, and voice acting.
