Svetlana Zhiltsova is a Soviet TV presenter, announcer for Central Television. Honored Artist of the Russian SFSR.
During her school years, she attended the artistic writing studio at the Moscow Palace of Pioneers. However, she had no intention of becoming an actress. As a child, she was drawn to foreign languages, which she studied in depth. Graduated from the Maurice Thorez State Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages.
She got into television completely by accident - when she was a fourth-year student at the Institute of Foreign Languages, Svetlana was invited to work as a translator on central television. She translated for a Canadian film crew filming a documentary about the USSR called 'Russia in the Spotlight'. Svetlana's work, especially her voice and excellent diction, attracted the attention of television producers, and when the foreigners left, she was offered a place at Ostankino. She accepted without hesitation. And soon became a presenter. Initially, she read program guides on TV. She then hosted shows across a wide range of genres. She hosted concerts dedicated to professional holidays and participated in English language training programs.
