Biography

Katie Bridget Murphy is a Belfast-based director, writer and producer. She recently wrote & produced a six-part series entitled Judged: A Mother’s Love, for BBC Sounds and has directed NI Screen funded short films, most recently Sasquatch with Quiet Child Films & Gallagher Films, starring Eileen O'Higgins and Vanessa Ifediora. She was part of BBC Writersroom Belfast Voices 2022 and was selected for the Channel 4 New Writers Scheme 2026. She was selected for Tinderbox Theatre Company's 'Engine' scheme and commissioned to write an extract of her play 'Unexpected', an exploration of motherhood and generations of mothers through her own personal VHS archive.
