Biography

Arsal was born in Istanbul (Turkey) in 1990. She is a Turkish writer, director and photographer. She is most known for her two most recent films "Kül" and "Turn Blue". Arsal has been applying her background in psychology and business to explore and execute film projects to represent the moving image and story telling.

Although she is Turkish and grew up in Istanbul, Arsal is bilingual in English and Turkish because her father was employed as a diplomat in Washington, DC when she was 3.

She graduated from the New School located in NY with a degree in Media studies where she focused on digital filmmaking and screenwriting in 2016.

She also has an MBA and initially majored in general psychology as an undergraduate.

She suffers from extreme ornithophobia (fear of birds).
