Biography

Purnendu Dey is an English teacher by profession; an independent filmmaker and a film critic by passion. He is from Kolkata (West Bengal, India).

His interest in films and Film Studies was given birth when he was in college and the people involved in inculcating such interest are none other than Mr Joydeep Sen and Mr Nilotpal Roy - his teachers - in the first place. They demonstrated elaborately that films should no longer be considered as merely a means of entertainment. Thenceforth started his exploration of this uncharted (at least to him, till then) terrain. He was, by that time, getting completely obsessed with world films. Later, while working as a Web Designer with PrimediArt, he came in contact with another person, Shyam Roy who, also influenced him. The director has now created a group, Noirealist Films Society, where people from various strata with a passion for films work together and discuss films.
