Sophy Purnell is a BAFTA-nominated composer, vocalist, and songwriter based in Macclesfield, Cheshire, UK, known for her distinctive, experimental approach to scoring for film and television. Blending traditional orchestration with expressive vocal textures, she creates music that is at once ethereal, emotive, and uniquely her own.
Sophy recently composed the breathtaking BAFTA-nominated score for blue-chip documentary series, Moon: Nature’s Secret Force (Humble Bee Films / Sky Nature), blending orchestral textures with her own experimental vocals to capture the moon’s ethereal influence on the natural world. She and has also contributed additional music and vocal recordings in collaborations with renowned composer, Chris Roe, for On The Edge with Alex Honnold (Nat Geo/Disney+) and Whale with Steve Backshall (Sky).
Her voice has been featured in a range of high-profile projects, including The Guest (BBC), The Sea Beast (Netflix), Body Parts (Tribeca Film Festival 2022), Every Breath You Take starring Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan, Intrusion (Netflix), The Tourist (HBO Max & BBC One), and ITV drama, The Confessions of Frannie Langton.
