Biography

July Janssen was born in the Netherlands. As a child, she always had a vivid imagination and spent time acting out characters from her favorite films in front of her family. After seeing Lasse Hallström' What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993) at the age of twelve, she decided to delve into her passion for acting.

She immediately started taking acting classes and joined dutch musical theatre ensemble 'De Jonge Stem'. And shortly thereafter got picked up to present at a local "The Movement" dutch television series, television commercials (IKEA, FrieslandCampina, Nationale Nederlanden, etc) comedy sketches, music videos, and numerous short films - playing a wide variety of characters and types.

In 2016 she graduated from faaam - film actors academy Amsterdam, before Filmacteur Mediacollege Amsterdam, and Dans en Theater ROC Nova College.

Her current feature film and television titles; Mark Weistra', 'De Club van 5' (cinema release 2020), Het leven is vurrukkulluk (2018) by Frans Weisz, Flikken Rotterdam (TV Series 2018- ), Kees van Hattum' Remnants of the Order: A Star Wars Fan Film (2018), Bram van Splunteren' 'Jezus van de Javastraat" (2016).

She is continuously working on her crafts by studying different techniques with teachers like Meisner alumni Steven Ditmyer, Refocus method founder Tony Grahn, Frank Herrebout, Robert Ceelen, Renée Harp, Willemijn van der Ree, and others.

July also founded ACT & MORE in 2015, assisting productions throughout all set departments, organizing actor classes and coaching and casting consultancy.

July Janssen is a Dutch actress based in Amsterdam, fluent in Dutch and English, with over 15 years of experience in film and television.

She is known for her versatility and emotional depth, portraying roles such as Ila, a creative homeless addict in In Love Again, a rebellious teen in Verkracht of niet, and a borderline hippie lawyer in Rebel Dogs. Other credits include Loverboy: Emoties uit, Last Days, and Star Wars: Remnants of the Order.

She completed her training, including a master year, at the film actors academy amsterdam (faaam). Her work draws from Method Acting, Meisner, Stanislavski, and Uta Hagen.

July is drawn to layered, physically and emotionally demanding characters who are often unseen or misunderstood.

Off screen, she is adventurous and creative. She rides motorcycles, practices archery and climbing, and has a deep love for animals and visual arts.
