Ali Sohail Jaura is a New York-based Pakistani filmmaker known for his visually uncompromising and culturally resonant narrative cinema. Dedicated to bringing nuanced diaspora stories to the global stage, he stands as the most awarded Pakistani filmmaker, holding over 45 international film awards and more than 100 official festival selections across his career.
Jaura’s work is defined by its deep exploration of the South Asian diaspora and the complex human condition. His highly acclaimed independent short film, Murder Tongue, screened at several Oscar-qualifying festivals and won Best Short Film at the 39th Miami Film Festival on its World Premiere. Building on this momentum, his most ambitious short film to date, Takheer (Delay), is slated for its world premiere.
Now established in the U.S. independent film sector, Jaura continues to push the boundaries of cinematic representation, developing an original series alongside his debut feature film.
