Augusto Sinay

  • He was born in the city of Córdoba, Argentina. He graduated as a film director from the National Film School of Argentina (ENERC, Buenos Aires) and completed the Master II in Filmmaking at the Higher School of Audiovisual Arts of Toulouse (ESAV) in France. He works as a director, assistant director and screenwriter. He has written and directed numerous short films, including fiction and documentaries, and participated in international film festivals. Notable films include: "The sound of the bell"(2019, premiered at the 21st BAFICI), "Hated myself" (2014), "Poisson-Zebre" (2017, with the support of the National Theatre of Toulouse). He has won the national arts fund twice.

    El Escuerzo (2023) is his first film, a historical horror film. He has participated in more than 30 festivals around the world and won more than 25 awards including: Best film and best script at Fantaspoa, best horror film at Feratum, best film at the Fantastic Film Week of the Costa del Sol and at 11th Galacticat. It was co-produced with Spain, the script won the award at the Cordoba Film institute, the Ibermedia Coproduction Fund, the Raymundo Gleyzer Cine de la Base development award from INCAA, selected at the Cinélatino Toulouse Festival in the development category, at CineQuaNonLab in Mexico and the Ibermedia/Fundación Carolina Project Development Course.

    He works with his brother Matías Sinay under the name Hermanos Sinay. Their short film Compost premiered at Fantastic Fest, Mar del Plata, the Havana Film Festival and Bogoshorts.
