He began his acting career at age 44 after serving for 23 years in the United States Army as an Infantryman. All of his deployments, to include a combat deployment to Afghanistan, where he served as Platoon Sergeant and First Sergeant, were with the elite 82nd Airborne Division. While in the United States Army, he performed the duties required from Private E-1 up to First Sergeant. He additionally performed the duties of Forward Operating Base Sergeant Major and Acting Company Commander.
