Biography

The 8G Band is the house band for the television show Late Night with Seth Meyers, which airs on NBC. The band plays live music during the show, including the opening theme, musical interludes, and special performances. Band Members The lineup of the 8G Band has evolved over time, but the core members include:

Fred Armisen - Music director and Drums (when not on tour or other projects). Armisen is a well-known comedian and actor, co-creator of Portlandia, and a former Saturday Night Live cast member. Eli Janney - Associate Music Director and Keyboards. He is a producer and engineer, as well as a member of the band Girls Against Boys. Seth Jabour - Guitar. He is also known for his work with the indie band Les Savy Fav. Syd Butler - Bass. He is also a member of Les Savy Fav and co-founder of Frenchkiss Records.

Previous members include: Marnie Stern - Guitar. She is a well-regarded solo artist and experimental guitarist. Kim Thompson - drums for the first season

Occasionally, when Fred Armisen is unavailable, the band features guest drummers. The band's presence and live performances add a dynamic energy to the late-night show, blending comedy with music.

The band's name, "8G," refers to the studio where Late Night with Seth Meyers is taped-Studio 8G at NBC's headquarters in the Comcast Building at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.
