Cheryl Faye Schwartz

Cheryl Faye Schwartz was born on October 26, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA. She is the younger daughter of Minnie (Richman) Schwartz and Samuel Benjamin Schwartz, both of Jewish descent. She has one sister, Arlene (Schwartz) Zoren, who is 6 years her elder. Cheryl grew up, with not much money, in a part of Philadelphia known as, Mt. Airy. She attended Germantown High School and graduated in June 1965. At that time, the school was composed of approximately 50 percent Afro-American students and 50 percent White students, both rich and poor, with every economic class between. The students all got along well and Cheryl grew up without knowing racism or anti-Semitism until she got married and left Mt. Airy. Being horrified about man's inhumanity to man, she promised herself that she would do anything she could to help those who were being exploited or abused by others.
