- William Draper was born in 1920 in Cayuhoga Falls, Ohio, USA. He died on November 25, 1964 in Camp Springs, Maryland, USA.
- He suggested the term "Air Force One" for the call sign of the presidential aircraft, to eliminate confusion with civilian aircraft.
- Hanged himself in the basement of his home. Found by his wife 25 November 1964.
- As an Air Force captain, he was assigned to Dwight D. Eisenhower as the general's personal pilot. After Eisenhower was elected president, he piloted the presidential aircraft until Eisenhower's term ended in January 1961.
- Interred in Arlington National Cemetery.
