Biography

During one of the worst snowstorms in the history of New York, a soon-to-be father drove on the sidewalk to Brooklyn Hospital to get the love of his life to the delivery room. That night, Ashley Taylor Greaves was born. Her mother's untimely passing just 8 years later left Ashley to be raised the only child of a devoted single father who managed to, not only, instill in her an unwavering determination and strength, but also, to scare the boys away for, well at this point, forever. Often, her wit and 20th century-themed humor, derived from way too many hours watching The Jeffersons, Sanford and Son & Good Times, induces riotous/infectious laughter from those closest to her.

As a student at Poly Prep Country Day School, she was forced to audition for Seussical. She was, to her great surprise - and panic - cast as Jungle Animal/Hunch and caught a severe case of the acting bug.

She continued to explore her affinity for the arts at Yale. She became the marketing director for and member of the Heritage Theater Ensemble, Yale's Premier Black Drama Group dedicated to sharing black and minority stories. Her performances at Yale included The Tempest's Miranda, directed by Toni Dorfman and Dave Harris's Exception to the Rule, the first Yale production ever solely composed of POC students.

Despite three summers of making good money (like G$$D M$NEY) as a JPMorgan Chase intern, after graduating with a BA in History, Ashley returned to her native New York (hats off to parents who let you squat rent free!) to pursue a career in the performing arts. She was a member of the American Theatre Wing's SpringboardNYC class and made her New York theatre debut that fall at the Manhattan Repertory Theater in Ken Wolf's Men. She made her onscreen debut in the recurring role of rookie Officer Gabrielle Taylor in Season 21 of Law and Order: SVU, which led to her getting her SAG card!

You can find this old soul whipping her 4A, B & C curls to Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder and pretty much any other musical act Motown ever produced. Ashley also enjoys experimenting with new recipes (her latest triumph is chicken and broccoli dumplings), curling up with historical romance novels (currently the Bridgerton novels), and running around the East Village with her friends during a summer downpour (5 grown women, multiple advanced degrees, 2 ridiculously small umbrellas).
