Biography

CJ Mirra is an Australian / British recording artist, composer and sound designer based in the U.K. CJ has carved a unique path into creating compositions to picture, working on TV series such as the forthcoming drama, Rescue: Hi Surf on FOX, BBC Drama 'Kidnapped' (co-scored with Andrea Balency), AppleTV's 'Make or Break' and award-winning films such as Lizard (dir. Akinola Davies), Layla (dir Amrou Al-Khadi), A Banquet (dir. Ruth Paxton - for which he won a best horror soundtrack). CJ's fluid, emotive and original approach to music and sound design, combining electronics with live instrumentation has led to long-standing collaborations with filmmakers from many different backgrounds and genres.

His sound design work has received a British Independent Film Award (2018) nomination for Best Sound for the feature documentary Time Trial (dir. Finlay Pretsell). Other film credits include the critically acclaimed 'Nascondino- Hide & Seek' (dir. Victoria Fiore) and Martin Radich's 'Norfolk' collaborating with Chris Watson & JG Thirlwell.

He has also created many immersive audio-visual installations for events at Somerset House, LightNight and other art performance events.

CJ's journey into film began by becoming 'The composer for cold water surf films' after scoring over 20 films by Chris McClean, a partnership that toured a live audio/visual performances world-wide as well as releasing 'Static (Original Surf Soundtracks Vol I)' and 'Translate' via theState51conspiracy label.

CJ launched CJ's Mirra Maze, a new band project in 2023 releasing two singles and was invited to support cult legends Panchiko on their sold-out UK tour.

Other studio work has contributed to releases by Mount Kimbie, Allen Ginsberg and many more like-minded artists.
