Gabriel Martinez(XVII)

Gabriel Martinez is a Brazilian documentary filmmaker, editor, and producer passionate about aging and longevity. Over the past decade, he has built a body of work dedicated to reshaping society's perspective on old age - showing that growing older can be an act of freedom, reinvention, and meaning. He directed Envelhescência (2015), his debut feature, following six Brazilians who reinvented themselves after the age of 60. In 2023, he released Além do Aposento, a documentary exploring different ways of facing retirement, and Conversas nas Zonas Azuis (Conversations in the Blue Zones), the result of a two-month expedition across Costa Rica, California, Japan, Greece, Sardinia, and Veranópolis, Brazil, investigating the secrets of longevity. In 2025, he directed O Envelhecer de Cada Um (The Aging of Each One), produced in partnership with the University of São Paulo School of Medicine and Newcastle University, addressing social inequalities in the aging process.
