  • Mim Shaikh studied Broadcast Journalism at the University of Leeds, and graduated in 2012 - it was here where his passion for broadcasting was established. He won Student Radio Awards for his time working at Leeds Student Radio in the 'Best Specialist Music Programming' and 'Best Interview' category. He was awarded with the Broadcast Journalism Training Council Award for 'Best News Feature'. He worked at BBC Radio 1's 'Newsbeat' as an intern before landing his own radio shows on the BBC Asian Network and BBC Radio 1Xtra. Shaikh has produced and presented his self-authored documentary 'Mim Shaikh: Finding Dad' which saw him go on a personal journey to meet his biological father in Kashmir. The documentary aired on BBC Three and was nominated at the Asian Media Awards for 'Best Factual Programming'. Since then, he has appeared on the BBC Documentary series 'Pilgrimage: The Road to Istanbul' where he eloquently opens up about his faith as a Muslim and was seen in the BBC's 'Celebrity Masterchef'. In 2023, Mim presented a podcast series entitled 'Aik Cup Chai' (One Cup of Tea) with the Independent Urdu which aimed to give South-Asians a platform to talk about their own personal stories. He was also granted the 'Identity Storyteller Award' from the Greater London Authority in 2024.

    As an actor, Shaikh has starred in the Channel 4 Drama series entitled 'Queenie' (2024), the romantic-comedy 'What's Love Got to do With It?' (2023), the BBC Crime Drama 'Informer' (2018), the British-Indie feature film 'Freehold' (2018), the BAFTA-Award winning short film 'Sunni // Shia' (2016), and he made his debut in the short film 'Daytimer' (2014).
