- Family owned a speakeasy in Ohio, which became Spano's Bar, Ravenna, Ohio's oldest business establishment.
- Award winning playwright. Several short plays published by Smith & Kraus.
- Was a dancer in a dozen musical theatre productions. Continues to take ballet class at Alvin Ailey.
- When Spano first moved to New York as a teenager he worked with Madonna at Amy's Restaurant in Greenwich Village. Spano was, briefly, a backup dancer at Chippendale's in New York.
