Biography

  • Jon Spano is an actor, writer, and dancer known for his award-winning Neo-Noir parody "The Big Gun." He excels at playing edgy, refined characters with a touch of sardonic wit. Spano portrayed Richard Clarke in Rob Lowe's "Liberty or Death: Boston Tea Party" and filmed a Super Bowl commercial with Drew Barrymore for Paramount. He has filmed consecutive web-based and vertical series for Reel Short, FlareFlow, and Journey Entertainment. On the New York stage, Spano has appeared in "The Shadow Box", "Small Craft Warnings", and "Golden Boy." As playwright, his award-winning short plays are published collectively in the "Anthology of Short Plays & Monologues." Spano trained at NYU, studied with Sanford Meisner, and has performed in both contemporary and period works across film, television, and theatre. An aficionado of vintage cars and an animal lover, Spano is an Ohio native who's lived most of his life in New York City's Hell's Kitchen.

Quotes

  • Let go or be dragged.
  • Destiny is what an individual creates by triumphing over adversity.
  • Be tolerant with others and strict with yourself, especially in the camera frame.
  • We're often more frightened than hurt and so we suffer more in imagination than in reality. But the tension between reality and imagination creates a vulnerability that is very powerful for the camera: it's a flicker that's felt in your soul but communicated through your eyes.
