Biography

Richard E. Watts

Mini bio

  • Richard Watts is an award-winning American independent film director and screenwriter. Most of his films take place in Southwest Florida and have related themes. Mr. Watts graduated from St. Vincent College in 1979 with a degree in pre-law. His real interest however was in art history and oil paintings especially the works of Rembrandt and some other Dutch masters. From these he adopted the idea of the richness of lighting which he tries to use in his films. After graduating from law school he began to balance his appetite for art with films. One of his early favorites was The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover. In 2000, Richard began shooting short commercials and biographies. His trademark look is his wild salt and pepper hair.
