Biography

Justine Avery is an internationally acclaimed, multi-award-winning author with a predilection for speculative fiction. She is also known for her involvement in producing the award-winning short films Practice Makes Perfect (2012) and #1 internet-trending One-Minute Time Machine (2014) and the sci-fi feature film Synced (2016).

Avery was born in the American Midwest, yet spent her childhood living throughout the southern U.S. and in the countries of Germany and the Republic of Panama. She continues to travel extensively, discovering new stories to tell.

Avery hand-carved the jack-o'-lantern famously featured in Practice Makes Perfect (2012)--and an exact duplicate, for use in the event that actor Kody Fields required a replacement.

Avery knelt just out of frame during the "balloon scene" featured in Practice Makes Perfect (2012) to pop the balloon during filming when clandestinely instructed by Director Devon Avery. Actor Kody Fields was caught by genuine surprise, and his first performance for, and the first take of, the shot was used in the film's final edit.

Justine Avery's children's picture book titled "Everybody Poops!" is referenced in both Ricochet Rabbit (2011) and Love Language (2021).
