James Joshua Otto is a British composer. After studying contemporary composition under Richard Causton and Michael Wolters at Birmingham Conservatoire, James went on to assist a number of other composers working at the highest level, including Ben Salisbury and Geoff Barrow on Men (Alex Garland), Constellation (Apple), and Archive 81 (Amazon), and Segun Akinola on BBC's Doctor Who and Girl You Know It's True (Simon Verhoeven).
James has also written music for commercial campaigns for Duracell (Christmas 2024), Bridgestone (2020 Olympics), and Noble Panacea, starring Jodie Comer.
James also enjoys frequent collaborations with James Everingham, composing additional music for the feature doc Motorsport Heroes (Manish Pandey), orchestrations for Felt Hammers (Extreme Music), and was assistant producer for Everingham's Royal Albert Hall Organ sample library.
As well as music for screen, James has also worked on projects for the stage, contributing orchestrations to 2023's regional UK tour of Treason: The Musical, a run which culminated at the London Palladium, as well as original compositions for the Cheltenham Everyman and The Royal & Derngate in Northampton.
