  • Vickie Curtis is a Filmmaker and Writer, receiving a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing of a Nonfiction Program for her work on The Social Dilemma. She directed the award-winning feature documentary Comparsa (Sheffield) alongside Doug Anderson. Her screen credits include writing the Emmy-winning Netflix Original films Chasing Coral (Sundance) and The Social Dilemma (Sundance), along with Searching for Amani (Tribeca, AJ Witness), Unearth (DOC NYC), The Weight of Water (Banff, Amazon), The Arctic: Our Last Great Wilderness (IMAX) and story architecture for Island Soldier (PBS), Anbessa (Berlinale, ARTE), We Are Guardians (HotDocs, Netflix) and Frame by Frame (SXSW, Cinema Eye nominee). Vickie has participated in the IDFAcademy Summer School, DOC NYC Roundtables, and Doc Society's Democracy Story Lab. As a former educator within the Progressive Education movement, Vickie developed the Education Impact Campaign for Chasing Coral, galvanizing student-driven, local climate action projects across the US. Her directorial debut, Comparsa, is a nonfiction film about two lionhearted teenage sisters who use art to mobilize a youth movement and heal in the aftermath of gender violence. Vickie received her MFA at Naropa University in Colorado.
