Gizem IBAK is a Turkish film director and screenwriter.
She studied Film Design at Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts. She made three short films, As You Know (2013), The Movie Has Happy Ending (2015), Before Leaving (2016) while studying. After graduating in 2015, she went to India and attended the film set of Disney India's Dangal. She worked in India between 2016 and 2017. She traveled to 12 cities in India and made two documentary films. She received the Rotary Film Award for her documentary Soul of the Light which was shot in India. After returning to Turkey, she worked as an intern in the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV). She was elected Mumbai Film Festival Young Critics Lab workshop program in 2018. She was elected to Mediterranean Film Institute Script-2 Workshop organized in Greece the same year. She won a scholarship for the Filmasist workshop program organized by Republic of Turkey, Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Cinema in 2019. The same year, her first professional short subject Passing Through The Forest was supported by Republic of Turkey, Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Cinema. She works as a director in Tristana Media Limited (Turkey) since 2018. She directed the commercials of more than 20 brands. She uses English and French languages in full professional proficiency.
