Tianwei Wang is a Chinese-American filmmaker based in Los Angeles whose work centers on immigrant narratives, especially those of outsiders and the culturally invisible. With a multilingual background, she has written scripts in three languages: English, Chinese, and German. She earned her MFA in Film and TV Production from Loyola Marymount University. Her debut feature, Prime Angel, broke viewership records for weekly sci-fi content in China. Her award-winning thesis film, My Spicy Grandma, and her short thriller Nana have screened at festivals worldwide, including several Oscar-qualifying events. Her comedy pilot House of Chen was recognized at the Nashville and Austin Film Festivals. In April 2025, her feature Voice Out-a psychological thriller based on a late 19th-century massacre of Chinese workers on a West Coast hop farm-received a the top production grant as the top awardee of the Big Sky Film Grant. It is set to shoot in 2026.
